Real estate management is clearly a service-oriented business. We believe that any successful management program can only be achieved through tight organizational control aimed at maximizing the delivery of service to the client.

MIS professionals, on the other hand, are more concerned with the users of information technology than with the computers themselves. MIS majors differ from computer science majors in emphasizing applications of computer systems for business over their development and analysis. The applications are focused on complex business needs in organizations.

MIS makes an excellent companion to another major, almost any other business and many non-business majors. Someone mentoring in MIS often serves as a liaison from a functional area (e.g., marketing or accounting) to MIS on systems development projects, or is a member of the systems development team representing the interests of the functional area. 

MIS courses include practical case studies, projects, and internship opportunities. MIS students develop technical skills; an understanding of business requirements; and the ability to interview, write, and present effectively in an IT and business environment.

The entire learning experience takes place within a Christian and Benedictine values-based community focused on servant leadership. MIS directors also may make hardware and software upgrade recommendations based on their experience with an organization’s technology.
